So we think we can find everything on the internet, right? Or at least we think that we can.
There are treasures and places undiscovered and it is not always written about online.

And for the record don’t we mostly like personal recommendation and tips?
During my travels, I found out that living in each country during longer time than just holiday let me get to know the countries better and deeper. I mean, of course, you have time to find authentic experiences the absolutely best places.

That is why I want to give you my personal tips and advice for the country, that surprised me the most:

Durmitor National Park

This is for you that love nature and adventure experiences. The northwest of Montenegro is the place for adventure and very different from the typical cost line in Balkan, which is similar to the Mediterranean cost. Not to mention that the area includes more than 20 mountains tops which are over 2300 meters of altitude and it is part of the Dinaric Alps. Can you imagine? I suppose not, because most people who get there say it is a breathtaking nature. Why should you go there?
In the summer time for hiking, extreme adventures like rafting, paragliding and Zip lining. You can also just enjoy a ride in the nature and maybe overnight in an eco-house in the wild nature. In the winter, the whole area change to a ski resort. Then you know you have a little bit of everything.

Ps. In Durmitor you can find Tara River Gorge which is the second largest in the world and that one you find in little beautiful Montenegro

Biogradska Goa Countryside

When you visit a new country or come back, it is always a good advice to explore the countryside. Why? We all love to come on vacation and when we visit tourist areas, we know it is a real holiday. However, we all know that tourist areas are not the real face of countries. Are we tempted to the see the real thing and the real life in the country we are visiting? YES! That is why you should go experience and explore the real countryside in Montenegro. Biogradska Goa is a beautiful place that is a virgin forest. Actually one of the three largest and last one in Europe. The place is so special that it is also a national park. The area is for hiking and enjoying the nature.

My personal advice is to overnight in an eco-village high in the mountains. Here you can enjoy the nature and think big thoughts surrounded by the mountains.
Ps. In the area of Vranjak there can also be found hiking routes and horseback riding.
PPS. It is the old school classic way – wild wild experience – therefore remember your insurance.

Mausoleum

Imagine you can be in a place in the mountains, where you can see more than 70 % of the country on a good day without to many clouds. Wow! That is possible and that is more than just stunning. The place is named Njegos Mausoleum, placed in the Lovchén mountains. You walk 461 steps and there you get to the spectacular view. YES, you can do it and it is worth it. If it is a beautiful day with not so many clouds, you can see to the other side of Skadar lake and there is Albania. The mausoleum is where Petar II Petrović-Njegoš is buried and he was one of the rulers in the country and one of the great ones in Montenegro.

Skadar Lake

Sit down, relax and take a deep breath – feel and smell the real nature. Do it on a small fisher boat on the most beautiful and largest lake in southern Europe. Can you feel it? On Skadar lake you can enjoy life and relax with a trip on the lake and see the irreparable nature. If you still are tempted and want some adventure around the area of Skadar lake, you can drive to Rijeka Crnojevićas viewpoint. Here you will be able to see some of the lake from above and some of the mountains. A full day of experience and some adventure also require some food. I hope we can agree that most of the best food gastronomic experience is local food and even better if it is in real authentic local areas, right? Check out the local area near Skadar lake, Virpazar. Taste local food and try to picture the local fishermen from the past.
Ps. remember to taste fish when you are in Montenegro.

Beaches in Montenegro

The history says that God threw some pearls over Earth and many of them are places in Montenegro. Many of them became the beautiful beaches around the coastline and some in Boca Bay.

Therefore, you need to take a tour de Beach in Montenegro.

All beaches are with stone and not sand. I will get back to that point later.

You can drive yourself, but be aware that the traffic is not like other places in the world. Let us say – they drive according to their own rules. If you do not feel comfortable, you can always book a driver that can drive you around in the country.

Back to the tour de beach. You have more than 70 km with beaches on the coastline. In total more than 117 beaches, more or less. That is something, right? Just try counting doing your trip.

Never be afraid of chasing beaches that is not so well known and full of tourists. You will be more and more surprised what can be found.

My list here is just some of the most famous. Well, some of the most famous are also my favorites. In the future, if you like to know more, I will make a list of the more special kind of beaches.

Some of the most famous beaches is:

  • Becici beach
  • Jazz beach
  • Mogren 1&2
  • Sveti Stefan beach
  • Velika Plaza – 13 km Long Beach.

P.S. I promised to get back to you about a beach with sand and not stone. That is Velika Plaza. So, if you really want sand, drive all the way to the south and you will have 13 km of dark sand beach.
